Título: Modelagem Computacional dos Mecanismos Dopaminérgicos Envolvidos na Aprendizagem e na Atenção Seletiva

Resumo: This work attempts to demonstrate the effect of amphetamine in Kamin blocking and overshadowing paradigms using a computational model. This model was developed based on a three factor learning rule consisting of cortical activity, amygdala activity and dopamine release, in order to produce associative learning. Dopamine release was simulated based on two mechanisms, tonic and phasic, proposed by Grace [1]. There was a significant effect of amphetamine when administered in the second phase of the paradigm, reducing the blocking and overshadowing effects, but not when it was administered only in the first phase. The results suggest that amphetamine might affect the salient stimulus of the compound since there was no significant effect of this drug in the control group. Since the results are consistent with experimental data, the computational model demonstrates a possible brain circuitry through which aversive conditioning might occur and attentional deficits, involving dopamine, may take place [2].
