Resumo: This work presents an artificial neural network based approach for automatic fingerprint recognition. Here it will be shown the most important aspects of the traditional fingerprint recognition (biometrics study) can be associated with artificial neural networks in order to automate fingerprint identification processes. A prototype was developed and applied to a sample case. The obtained results, that validate the proposed method, are presented and discussed.
